A buyer may describe all three as “another power point”. That can hide the intended appliance, the existing circuit capacity, access and any moisture exposure. An extension lead is not a permanent substitute for correctly installed outlets. Fixed wiring is regulated work in Queensland; do not remove a cover or attempt replacement to save an attendance fee.

Give the licensed contractor the room and exact proposed position, what will be plugged in, whether the outlet is indoor or outdoors, and whether there is existing power nearby. Photos of the room can help discuss access but cannot verify wiring. In a rental unit, obtain owner or manager authority and clarify any body-corporate or common-property constraints before work is arranged.
For example, “replace a cracked bedroom outlet at the existing position” differs from “add an outdoor point for a new appliance”. The second request raises location, exposure, load and cable-route questions that the first may not. Give the intended use and ask whether the proposed price assumes a new circuit, weather-suitable equipment and making good.

Discuss testing, surface damage or making good, weather protection where relevant, and the process if the existing installation is unsuitable. If you bought a fitting, confirm its suitability with the contractor before assuming it can be used.
Work through the practical job trade-offs

Before asking for “one more outlet”, sketch the intended position and list the equipment to be connected. A workstation, outdoor tool and high-load appliance raise different questions about placement and supply. A replacement at an existing point is not equivalent to running new cable through walls or ceilings. Ask whether the quote includes the outlet, any circuit changes, weather protection if needed, testing and making good around the work area. If furniture blocks access or a unit’s wall is common property, include that constraint early. A product bought in advance may not be suitable, so ask the installer before relying on it. Do not open the fitting to identify wiring; describe the visible issue and let an appropriately licensed person inspect it safely.
Ask whether the intended appliance needs a dedicated circuit assessment or whether an existing circuit can be used; that decision requires inspection. An outdoor or damp-area position adds suitability questions that a catalogue photo cannot answer. Mark the proposed location without cutting into a wall or opening the fitting. If the quote excludes cable routing or wall repair, request those exclusions in writing before approving work. The simplest installation in one room may not be transferable to another room or property.
